Where thoughts and ideas come to be processed

My name is alexandria hammant.
I am from Riverside California although I was born in Lancaster and grew up mostly in Las Cruces New Mexico; the land of enchantment. Culturally I am Ukrainian and Irish on my mum’s side and English on my dad’s. It is important to me to connect with my ancestry and culture in areas such as food; especially since my family felt the need to assimilate very quickly and did not pass on any language. The community that I connect with the most in this area are my cousins; Graeme and his wife Sonia, Sonia is from Kyiv and has taught me a lot about the culture. Right now I am eighteen years old; but I will be nineteen in November which is crazy to think about, I am also a Sagittarius with citrine for my birthstone. Outside of school I love to experiment with different hobbies; over the years I have done both ballet and figure skating which were both very intense and rewarding. Aquascaping/ aquarium keeping has also been a big hobby of mine and in which I have kept varying freshwater species like shrimp, snails, and beta fish (separate of course). Right now I am the most interested in scrapbooking, bedazzling, shopping, photography, reading (Twilight), watching movies, and of course meeting new people and making friends. As a person I am about 60% introverted and recharge in nature, especially in the mountains my favorite being Idyllwild, although I love the beach too. One of my favorite memories from this summer was snorkeling around Catalina Island, taking underwater pictures, and getting to see an octopus with my best friend. Away from school my biggest communities are within my friend group, volunteer group, and family. At San Diego State my communities are pretty similar. I would consider my greatest community to be from the dorm that I am in Huāxyacac. This of course includes my roomates: Alice, Alaina, and Kaitlyn; as well as other people from my dorm whom I’ve met either on my floor (floor five) or down on other levels. The second largest community I am a part of is the Kinesiology Pre-PT major. This community is special because we have a lot of the same classes; and are all heading towards health professions. Knowing the major is so big is really great, and I hope that being part of this community allows me to connect with other students as we all navigate college.
